How to Calculate DA in Salary (Formula & Example)
Dearness Allowance (DA) is a cost-of-living adjustment paid to government employees, public sector, and pensioners. For central government employees, DA is calculated using the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI) with base 2016=100 or old series. The simplified formula: DA = (Basic Pay × DA%) / 100.
Example: Basic salary = ₹45,000, DA% = 58% → DA = ₹26,100; Gross = ₹71,100. After July 2026, if DA reaches 62%, additional arrears will be paid for 6 months.
📌 DA Calculation Formula (Central Govt – 7th CPC)
DA% = [(Average of AICPI (Base 2001=100) for last 12 months – 115.76) / 115.76] × 100. For quick use, our da calculator online above implements the final percentage.
